Project Overview

A leading theme park and entertainment company operating 13 parks across the United States and the UAE approached Modular Culinaire to deploy a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen within their San Diego amusement park.

The goal was to create a full-service QSR kitchen with food preparation, storage, a public-facing service area, and staff restrooms — as an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar construction.

Challenge

The park needed a kitchen deployed within a short seasonal construction window during winter, in one of the most expensive building markets in the US. The unit had to comply with California's stringent building and health codes, integrate with the park's existing visual identity, minimize disruption to daily operations, and align with the operator's sustainability commitments.

Solution

Modular Culinaire designed and manufactured a 960 sqft modular kitchen — 640 sqft dedicated to kitchen operations and 320 sqft to a walk-in cooler and freezer — plus a separate 160 sqft dual-gender ADA-compliant restroom. The unit was delivered with a streamlining state and local permitting. Lead times were cut by 50% compared to traditional construction, with approximately 25% cost savings and 18% less carbon emissions.
